I Don't Give a Rotterdam! Swatch

Hello, All!

This week is seriously flying by! Wednesdays are always great. Wednesdays are both the beginning of the end of the work week and also...Modern Family comes on! I absolutely love that show. Today I have a random NOTD post! I present to I Don't Give a Rotterdam! from the OPI Holland Collection!

I Don't Give a Rotterdam! is a very light blue/periwinkle polish with blue and silver shimmer. As would be expected with such a light color, I Don't Give a Rotterdam! is a bit sheer. However, I was still able to reach perfect opacity with 2 coats. Finally, the formula was great, very easy to work with.

Hope you all enjoyed the post! What do you think of I Don't Give a Rotterdam!?

Pantone 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald

Hello Everyone!

TGIF!!! I didn't have a particularly hard week but, for some reason, Friday just always feels good. Any interesting plans for the weekend? If anyone plans on paying your local movie theatre a visit, I would have to recommend Mama. As I mentioned in another post, I LOVE horror movies. Not the gory, blood and guts kind but the creepy, unsettling, what does this ghost want?!? kind. Mama was the latter! There were no cheap thrills and there was actually a plot! Surprise, surprise! I saw it Wednesday with my husband and a few friends and, let me tell you, we were entertained. Earlier this year, Pantone announced that emerald would be their 2013 Color of the Year. Today I have 2 swatches to showcase the light and dark side of emerald. I present to you Essie Trophy Wife and OPI Cuckoo for this Color!!!

Trophy Wife is a beautiful emerald with the perfect hint of blue and a nice pearly finish. The formula was great, not too thin or thick. I reached perfect opacity with just 2 coats.

Cuckoo for this Color is a gorgeous shimmer on the darker side of the emerald spectrum. This polish is filled with blue micro-glitter that gives it a beautiful shine under sunlight! The formula was also a dream and easy to work with. Absolutely loved this one. I used just 2 coats here.

Hope you all enjoyed the post especially if you're thinking of following Pantone's lead. On my nails I will be wearing whatever tickles my fancy at the moment! Are there any other emerald you can recommend?

Butter London Holiday Glitter Trio Set 2

Hello, Everyone!

Hope your weeks are off to an amazing start! The semester is just gearing up again. I've been  doing all the preparations necessary to start my thesis research...and watching a marathon of Breaking Bad episodes with my husband on Netflix. We watched seasons 1-4 in a week. You may ask yourself how is that possible? Well, the show is amazing! Some of the cliffhangers forced us to stay up and watch more! As promised I have swatches of the second butter LONDON Holiday Glitter Trio Set!

L to R: Rosie Lee, Fairy Cake, Black Knight

Rosie Lee is, as butter LONDON describes it, "a parade of pale pink glitter" in a clear base. The way this shines in the light is gorgeous! The formula on this one was somewhat thick, which I kind of expected. It also took 3 coats to reach this opacity. The texture was rough until top coat was added. Rosie Lee would be perfect for layering.

Fairy Cake is filled with both silver and hologram glitters all in a silvery/light grey base. I absolutely love the shine! I could not stop looking at my nails. The coverage was a lot better than Rosie Lee mostly because Fairy Cake has the colored base. However, it still took 3 coats to reach this opacity. It was a bit thick but still easy to work with.

Black Knight...where do I even begin? This was my favorite of the bunch. In this black base there is tons of microglitter! While there is also black and silver microglitter, the pink and blue microglitter specifically mix to make a beautiful nebulous purple effect. I needed just 2 coats to reach this opacity. The formula was a dream.

Overall, I think butter LONDON did a great job with these! Hope you all enjoyed this post! Do you have a favorite among the three? 教えてください , in other words, let me know, comment! Be sure to let me know what you would like to see more of

Happy 2013!!! Butter London Holiday Glitter Trio Swatches

Hello Everyone!

First off...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope you all had an amazing 2012 and that 2013 is even better! I have to say I'm looking forward to what this year has to offer both planned (i.e. graduating!) and unexpected. I especially can't wait to continue to connect with you all AND any new Colour Lovers who happen to stumble upon my blog. I can think of no other way to start this year of blogging off right than with a post. SO I present to you swatches of the butter LONDON Holiday Glitter Trio Set!

L to R: Shambolic, Jack the Lad, Scuppered

The packaging is nothing extravagant. It's your typical butter LONDON gift set box just in a holiday silver. There was one thing I loved on the package. We'll get to that after the swatches...

Shambolic is a very complex purple! My camera refused to capture how truly gorgeous this color is. In the light there's gorgeous flecks of purple, green, and pink. There is also a mix of both silver AND pink hexagon glitter. I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I did! The formula was a bit thick (kind of expected it given the glitter) but still easy to work with. I reached perfect opacity here with 2 coats.

Jack the Lad is gorgeous. Simple as that. This is one complex green! Jack the Lad has yellow, gold, green, and the perfect hint of blue shimmers all in a dark green base. The effect, especially in the sun, is nothing short of stunning. I seriously could not stop staring at my nails! This polish was very easy to work with not too thick or thin. The shine was amazing even before the top coat. I reached perfect opacity with 2 coats.

Scuppered is a beautiful bronze shimmer with a lot going on. There's brown, green, and gold shimmer in this one. There are even hints of red and orange though, though my camera could not pick that up. My favorite part has to be the larger pieces of green glitter that shine through.

I definitely loved this butter LONDON Holiday Glitter Trio! There is one more set that I will be swatching for you all in another post. Rather than paying full price of $36 for each one, I was able to get the sets for half off, $18 each, by watching Good Morning America! They had another Deals and Steals segment going on and each one was half off! Sometimes it pays to wake up early! You can still get a deal on it now! The sets are on www.butterlondon.com for $25!

As for the thing I loved about the packaging...

Couldn't have said it better myself! Can't help but feel they were thinking of me!

Hope you all enjoyed the post! Which one was your favorite of the three? Also, please let me know what you all want to see more of on ColourVida! Thank you for reading and
